ANALYSIS: Will US grant waivers to Turkey for Iran sanctions?

After Secretary of State Mike Pompeo hinted that some sanctions  on Turkey will be lifted, the focus of the Turko-American tension shifted  to the most immediate dispute, namely compliance with Iran sanctions.  After Pompeo’s departure, Turkey’s biggest refinery (there is now a second, Star Refinery) Tupras applied for sanctions relief. Some analysts tend to throw in Turkish-American cooperation on the case of murdered Saudi journalist Mr. Jamal Khashoggi into the mix to herald a break-through.   It is prudent to be cautious, warns Mrs. Amberin Zaman and Mr. Murat Bilhan.
