Former owner of gold mining concer KOZA and IPEK Groups, Mr Hamdi  Ipek launched a suit at the World Bank’s International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) in Washington against Turkey for illegal confiscation of assets. Within a  day, he was arrested and released by a British court after  his passport is confiscated.

The first case filed at the ICSID in Washington over media confiscations by Erdoğan’s regime was launched earlier this year by a Belgium-based firm, Cascade Investments NV, which claims its assets were also taken away by the Turkish government in 2016 when the independent newspaper Zaman was shut down.
